Montavilla Brew Works – 7805 Stark Street – Portland, OR Montavilla Brew Works Homebrew Con Welcome Party and Tour Here’s a rundown on the peripheral events that will take place in Portland when Homebrew Con 2018 arrives this week. Best of all, many of these events are free to attend and you don’t have to be a homebrewer to enjoy many of them, just have a strong fondness towards craft beer! Some of the highlights include a couple events with Ken Grossman, co-founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing, Charlie Papazian visits Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery and the Brewing Network 13th Annual Street Festival. Homebrew Con 2018 takes place from June 28-30, 2018 at the Oregon Convention Center, but events associated with the annual conference will begin in earnest on Wednesday, June 27th. Along with it, 3,000 homebrewers will descend upon the Rose City for the better part of the week discussing their craft and visiting breweries and beer bars. Last time I went they had a limit on hops but this is reasonable considering the shortage. The national homebrewers conference, now known as Homebrew Con arrives in Portland for its 40th edition later this week. They have a good selection of equipment including conical fermenters, boil pots and burners. The homebrew shop portion is alright with a fair selection and fair prices. Everything from basic Oregon beers to 3 liter bottles of arrogant bastard and many of Dogfish Head's offerings. Still the best homebrew shop in Salem the other is a knife shop / homebrew store.Ĭorvallis Brewing Supply - The best part of this shop is that they also have an excellent of bottled beer and wine. Fine for short term but wouldn't want to store long term storage. Only turnoff about this store is the hops are stored in ziploc bags instead of vacuum sealed foil bags. This shop is very small but manages to have a good selection for it's size. ![]() Homebrew Heaven - One of two homebrew shops located in Salem. The owner is very helpful and eager to answer any questions that you may have. Compare to most places charging $6 for a 2oz pack. Currently they have the best prices I've seen on hops most $4 per 2oz pack some $5 per 2oz pack. The prices are fair on most items and the selection is good as well. Although we are coming up to harvest season and they'll probably have a better selection soon.Ībove the Rest Homebrewing - A nice medium sized shop in Tigard. My only complaint is the last few times I've been their they've been out of many hops. Also has a good selection of wine making kits and equipment. They have everything you can think of related to homebrew. It's fairly big for a homebrew shop and has an excellent selection of grain. Steinbart - This is THE homebrew shop to go to in Portland. I haven't gone to all the shops but here are most of the shops around Salem and Portland area.į.H. I've been to a few and thought I'd share my thoughts on them. So it should come as no surprise that there are also many homebrew shops around. Living in Oregon there is no shortage of quality craft beer.
